Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) is a water management technique in paddy cultivation where fields are not continuously flooded. Instead, irrigation is applied intermittently, allowing the soil to dry to a certain level before re-irrigation.
Rice cultivation is one of the largest contributors to agricultural methane emissions. Through AWD, we aim to transform traditional flooded paddy practices into a more sustainable, controlled irrigation method that benefits both farmers and the environment.
